If it has a feature you want to use in game then it is far from useless. Xfire is also a great solution for making in game videos. Not only does it work liek a free version of fraps but you also get the option to have the file hosted for free online, complete with comment and ratings functionality.

Xfire builds actually often cause issues with GW. I couldn't change districts while I was using it and it was apparently a quite common bug.
That said, I personally recommend Steam. I use it to run all my games through.
But my favourite solution is dual monitors with a clock widget on the other screen

External third party programs are NOT definite solutions.
It works? For some.
It's the solution? Not for all.
The solution is always any feature made directly within the game.
A simple system and clock timers at the Performance Monitor would be more than enough:
- Server time: 00:00 UTC
- System time: 00:00 UTC
That would be enough.

Yes yes yes!
I remember in d2, wc3 etc, you could just type /time and get that, would be handy too.

Um.
/time
Time of day is 4:21 ET
Done.....
XD
Issue here is they would have to do a ton of scripting, it's not really worth the trouble.
Maybe it will be in GW2.

Having server and local time showing up would be nice.
Normally though I play GW in window mode, so I'm able to see the time.

A small clock showing server time would also be nice, besides the local time. Mostly because of the special events of which the starting times are always mentioned in the American time zone. It's a bit hard to calculate it back to the European time zones, especially when daylight saving time blends in.

I miss the /time command from bnet. The servers keep track of how many hours you play. It doesn't really seem like it would be a whole lot of extra work to allow you to tell the current time as well.

Been suggested before (I also posted a thread like this too), but I still want it.
I also don't want to install third party programs such as Xfire as I would find it useless (if you disagree, I'll prove you wrong although the only "subject" would be me).
Then I know that not everybody just dumps a thousand dollars on a computer and can only run the game on minimum requirements, so doing Alt+Tab would really suck for them.
My friend has that situation and I keep telling him to get a new computer, but that's another story.
But having a clock on the performance monitor or below the mini-map or anywhere you freakin' wish to put it would be nice.
I do have a separate clock, but we all do know that if there's a clock on the screen, we'll use that more often than the one sitting within arms reach.
Yep...

This has been suggested before, but that doesn't mean it's any less of a decent idea, so /signed.....as long as the clock shows local time (i.e. your time zone) and has a countdown feature for festivals/weekend events starting.

I love the idea of having a clock right above the "Players" box or something!
Lets just hope that the guys from arena net find enough time to bother looking at the forum(*cough* Most likely they wont even give it a second thought)

If you have an ATI card, install tray tools and enable the clock on the on screen display. From the tray icon:
Tools & Options > OnScreen Display > Enable > FlashOSD tab > 3rd Line > select "show time" from configure button.

I just run GW in a full size window so the windows clock is always viewable at the bottom corner. I would think that would satisfy your requirement?
